Sketch Nation Shooter is a Must Have

My horrible doodles in an iPhone Shooter

Sketch Nation Shooter is awesome.  And this is coming from a guy that doesn’t like basic shooters.  I’m just not into that many iPhone games where you control a ship moving up and enemies come down from above.  I’ve played so many of those games, their just not all that fun, however this game rocks.  And here’s why….

You make your own ships, enemies and backgrounds.  It’s awesome!  When you start the game you are given the choice to create a game.  After you name the game it instructs you to draw your player.  That’s right, you draw your own ship on a piece of white or off white paper with a bold pen ( I used a sharpie) and then take a picture of your ship.  (note in the picture my thumb is there.  I moved it before taking that actual picture for the game)

Once you’ve taken the picture of your ship it will process it and give you a preview.  You can rotate so that your ship is facing up and then accept the photo.  If you make a mistake you can always retake the photo.

Next you draw an enemy, you follow the same steps as above and then you can start playing the game.

The game is a basic shooter…but it’s your art work.  Or someone else’s.  You can upload your designs into the game for others to download and you can download other artwork as well.  This game is simply amazing.

There’s also an advanced mode of creating, where you are able to create a a game with a player, enemies, a boss and level sections and modify them as you wish.

Watch the video below to get a better idea of how it works, then go buy it.

Sketch Nation Shooter: [ App Storeicon ] $.99 and totally worth it.  It’s like having your own iPhone game that you made.

Aftermath – A Fun Zombie Shooter That’s Only $.99

Aftermath is a pretty fun zombie shooter that I picked up this morning.  While there’s no story the gameplay is pretty fun.  It’s similar to other dual stick shooters but varies in that you can’t shoot behind the character. You use the left control to move around and the right control turns your character left and right.  I really like this control scheme.

The other unique aspect of this game is that you can’t control your shooting. The character will automatically shoot when a zombie is in the light of your flashlight.  If you’re moving your shots are less accurate, leaving you with the constant decision, do I run away and avoid the zombies or hunker down and shoot more accurately.

Not only is the gameplay fun, but there is a definite survival vibe that I got from this game.  It really sells itself in style as much as gameplay.  And I’m a huge fan of the occasional lightning strikes that light up the entire area revealing zombies sneaking up behind you.

I picked this up this morning and I really like the game so far.  Whether you’re a zombie fan or not, check it out.

Aftermath:  [ App Storeicon ] $.99 half price intro sale.
