Check out Archetype! It’s a new FPS for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows team multiplayer.
Early impressions are coming in and so far all I’ve heard are positive. Most impressions from those that have played is that it looks great on the iPhone 4 and it plays very smooth. I will have a review up soon.
Above is an image from the training. I’ve only done the training and one actual match. The gameplay was smooth and it did look great. Also, the controls didn’t bother me like on some FPS games. I only played a single one on one game, but can already tell that this game has a lot of potential.
Banzai Rabbit puts you in control of a super-rabbit that must hop across traffic to help people infected with a mutagen. If you’ve ever played Frogger, and enjoyed it, then you will really like Banzai Rabbit.
The graphics are decent and it’s a pretty fun game. It’s a basic game with simple controls. Swipe left, right, up, or down to move, and tap the power-up button when available to use it.
If you aren’t a fan of Frogger, or hopping back and forth across traffic doesn’t sound fun, then this isn’t the game for you.
There is more to do than in a game of Frogger, such as collect mutagen and power-ups that let you jump higher. But for the most part it’s the same game.
All in all, it’s a fun game with great graphics. If you’re a fan of Frogger, pick this one up.
Vertigo Rogue is a grand theft auto style game that takes place entirely in a helicopter. Based on the video this looks like it could be a lot of fun. Unfortunately for the developer, the first release of this game had a bug that caused the reviews to come in negative. The developer is on the ball and got the issue fixed right away and now the early impressions of the game are quite positive.
As I haven’t played this game myself, I can’t say that I recommend it or that you should pick it up, but definitely keep your eye on this game. Early players of the game say it feels like a grand theft auto, and that it’s a lot of fun.
See below for the developers description of his game and a video of gameplay.
Vertigo Rogue: [ App Store ] $4.99 (half the price of Grand Theft Auto)
App Store Description:
Vertigo Rogue is an original, fast-paced arcade style action game that puts you in the seat of a heavily armed helicopter taking on a range of land, sea and air based enemies.
As an ex-con mercenary fighter pilot about to retire and settle down, you are whirled into a sinister plot where you are forced to enact the role of a flying mafia hitman in a city where the on-going conflict between 7 criminal organizations is about to spin out of control in a frantic, explosive climax.
Vertigo Rogue features:
1. An originial, non-linear story line with 38 varied missions
2. A huge, detailed landscape of unprecedented complexity
3. Advanced, realistic graphics in a rich and populated environment
4. A selection of 8 different weapon types
5. A powerful, yet simple and intuitive two-thumb control system
6. Advanced 3D sound environment
7. Optional stereoscopic, red/blue color-filtered 3D mode
Note: 3D glasses are of course not included, but if you happen to have a pair of those old cardboard goggles with a red/blue 3D filter, turn on the 3D mode and enjoy the REAL vertigo effect!
Note that in stereoscopic mode, the frame rate will be lower and the most convincing depth effect is achieved on the newest generations of iPod Touch/iPhones. The color coded 3D mode will not work with shutter- or polarized 3D glasses as used in theaters.
LightBike for the iPhone and iPod Touch is a must buy. It is a must by solely because it is based off of the best scene in the 198_ movie, Tron. If you’re not familiar with Tron, click here to read about it at Wikipedia.com then go to netflix and add it to your queue. The movie isn’t great, but for it’s time period it was absolutely amazing. Plus there is a sequel coming out soon, so you’ll want to see the original first.
Back to Lightbike, the object is to drive your lightcycle across a grid while an energy beam shoots out behind you and stays until you crash. The game plays similar to snake. So just think of this as a multiplayer snake game where your tail doesn’t follow you, but you continually grow from where you began.
The only negative I would have for this game is that that graphics are just okay, nothing spectacular and there is not a lot of variety in the gameplay.
Lightbike has multiplayer over wifi, and multiplayer over the internet. For $2.99 this is a must buy. There is also a light version you can try out for free, just to make sure it’s your kind of game.
